Aprovechando que quedan meses para que The Walking Dead vuelva con su temporada 3, vamos a hablar del papel de las mujeres en la serie: creo que se crea un papel muy machista desde un principio, pero va evolucionado.
Los hombres a trabajar al campo y las mujeres dedicadas a la casa!!!, esto es lo que vimos al principio.
Quizá alguien debería recordarles a los guionistas en qué siglo estamos. Y es que si la humanidad que pinta The Walking Dead ha dado un paso en atrás en adelanto tecnológico y comodidad, también lo ha hecho en mentalidad.
En la primera temporada asistimos al bochornoso espectáculo de la reunión de las mujeres en el río a lavar. No tendría nada de especial si no fuese porque como tarea, hacían la lavada de todo el campamento: ropas propias y ajenas. Recordamos como Carol era sometida por su marido para cumplir esa obligación y como la mayoría de mujeres reprochaban a Andrea por querer tener otras obligaciones.
Ese reparto machista de los roles en The Walking Dead (el marido de Carol estaba allí mirándola en lugar de echar una mano) se ha repetido en la temporada 2 y de nuevo tuvo a Andrea como oveja descarriada en un mundo en el que las mujeres quieren jugar a las buenas esposas en lugar de aprender a empuñar un arma. Lori recriminó a Andrea que la unión de las mujeres y su dedicación a hacer cosas como la comida y la limpieza, pero Andrea quería ser útil de verdad: hacer guardias, practicar con el arma para estar lista para la lucha... El desdén de Lori como si Andrea no tuviera derecho a dedicarse a este tipo de cosas, fue la gota que derramó el vaso.
En el último capítulo de la temporada 2, en el asalto a la granja, Maggie conduce para que Glen dispare y Andrea dispara desde otro coche con T-Dog.
Además de machistas se les ha dado un papel manipulador, siempre intentando convencer a "sus hombres" de lo infravalorados que están en el grupo, de lo molesto que era Shane, de cuánto manda Rick. Para el recuerdo el plano en el que Lori detrás de Rick, le va susurrando al oído maldades acerca de Shane, las mismas que rebotarían en su cabeza en el momento de confrontar a su mejor amigo. Más tarde, alrededor de la hoguera tras huir de la granja de Hershel, Maggie y Carol se comportarían igual, lamentable.
Por el momento Andrea es la única que se ha interesado por aprender cualidades que puedan mantenerla con vida.
Para la tercera temporada, en principio, tendremos a cinco supervivientes mujeres (Lori, Andrea, Beth, Maggie y Carol). A ellas tendremos que sumar a Michonne, que apareció al final del episodio salvando a Andrea.
Por lo que vimos en adelantos e incluso en el Trailer, las mujeres cambiaran su rol, hay imagenes de Maggie golpeando walkers, Carol disparando, Michonne sobreviviendo sola e inteligentemente con una destreza que deja boquiabierdo a cualquiera, así que estamos evolucionando MENOS MAL!!
